It's still 25 degrees Centigrade outside and so humid, and it is almost 24.00. This morning me and Manuel met Kim with his Akita Umi. Kim has really made a good job with Umi, one can feel how stable and secure upbringing she has had so far. Anyhow, it was hot I guess 32 degrees in the shadow...
I showed Kim the area called "Västra hamnen" where Kim went for a swim, and then we had a lunch facing the sea. The dogs got some water and just lay down beside our table totally beat from the heat, especially Manuel. I believe Umi is slightly better at handling the heat. It is interesting how that differs. Eia suffers also a lot from the heat. After that we headed towards Järavallen and met Eia with Lotte and Minn. Manuel hasn't been that keen on bathing previous years, he has been more of a wader, loving to walk around in water up to his belly, fishing, playing...but this year I guess he has understood that 1. his coat is ok for swimming, it DOES dry off, since it is very thin currently 2. swimming helps him to cope with the heat. It is so clear that he is aiming straight into the water, walking until he needs to swim, and then goes for a nice calm swim. He is really good at swimming, his body is totally parallel with the water-line (not sinking at the behind) and he is not using that much energy at all (his legs moving very very slowly). Then after a while he goes back and stays for a long while just standing still in the water - doing nothing.... Umi, I believe will learn (she is still so young) but currently she is splattering a lot of water and doesn't really want to swim :-) Eia, the little baby, she managed to swim as well, and she loved it.
Now it is humid and impossible to sleep. If our balcony was facing the yard instead of the main-street I would have slept there tonight... It is great with two such young ladies, that already understand how to be calm and not being too pushy when it comes to Manuel. This way, they get along just great immediately. /Charlotte
