Men and Kumi went hare-hunting today with some friends. We joined the driving-part and Kumi did not really fully understand what the purpose was at the start. I believe there just was too many new impressions, and to describe her very shortly the word would be - hyperactive. She winds up a bit to easily in new environment. Here we had hares running back and forth, here and there plus that there were other dogs all around her that she had to in some what way have control of. To my joy she did not react on the shooting at all! In the second drive she was a bit calmer and managed to chase up a hare that was lying, trying to hide in the snow. I believe that she now fully understood what we were doing. All energy after that was spent on spying for hares. The person who knows Kumi, knows that she is a little lady containing energy raised to 3. I had from the start the ambition of shooting some nice pictures, but all my energy was focused on handling Kumi's own ambitions. The generous leader of the shoot, Björn, provided us with one (passad, vad är det på engelska?) hare, emptied from urine and eviscerated, which I put on the floor of the back-seat of my car. Kumi who was sitting in the luggage-space found a small gap in the net that separates her from the back-seat, and could just fairly push her cute little (but highly functioning) nose through, to enjoy the lovely scent from the hare. When we had parked the car, and I had started to unload the car, I noticed that the backrest of the backseat was all covered in Kumi-slobber. I do believe that some kind of hunting will be a magnificent activity for both Manuel and Kumi in the future. If that will mean us putting out tracks by ourselves or that they actively will participate in hunts one day, we will see. No matter what outcome, it is a fun activity for the whole pack. /Mikael Hrm, so now Mikael has found a new way of using his tripod... And we need to barricade the entrance to the kitchen, keeping smart Akitas away for a few days..hrm. /Charlotte
